How your donation is used
When you support Ubuntu Village of Life, you can choose to direct your donation to specific funds or programs, or contribute to UVL as a whole. Below, explore the different programs to see how each one makes an impact.
Across rural Burundi, too many families still face impossible odds. Mothers give birth alone at home, premature babies fight for life without equipment, and children fall ill without access to medicine. By giving to this fund, you help Ubuntu Village of Life provide skilled care, essential supplies, and compassionate support from pregnancy through early childhood.
Your support in action:
- Sponsor a C-section: $75 helps provide life-saving surgery and recovery care for one mother and her baby.
- Sponsor a safe delivery: $50 supports a normal birth with skilled attendance, delivery kits, and postnatal care.
- Sponsor premature baby care: $50 provides two weeks of neonatal intensive care and nourishment for a premature baby.
- Sponsor under-five treatment: $15 treats malaria, pneumonia, or malnutrition for one young child.
For families in rural Burundi, reaching care can mean hours on foot or by motorbike over rough terrain, with no guarantee of help when they arrive. Your support fuels the lifelines that make survival possible such as ambulances that reach remote villages, oxygen that keeps lungs breathing, and health insurance that ensures no family is turned away.
Your support in action:
- Sponsor an emergency ambulance trip: $60 fuels and maintains a vehicle to transport one person in crisis.
- Sponsor oxygen for care: $50 provides a week of medical oxygen for a newborn or severely ill child.
- Sponsor health insurance: $100 covers a full year of essential healthcare for one family.
- Sponsor disability care: $100 supports three months of therapy, mobility aids, and family support for one person.
Lasting change begins with strong foundations. In many rural communities, clinics operate without reliable power, clean water, or the tools to connect with medical experts. Donations to this fund help Ubuntu Village of Life build the systems that make quality care possible from lighting our hospital with solar energy and providing safe water for patients and staff, to expanding hospital facilities so no family is turned away. Your support also helps establish new spoke medical centers and equip them with digital connectivity, linking remote clinics to expert guidance and life-saving resources.
The training fund invests in the professional training and education of our local healthcare workers, ensuring our teams have the specialized skills needed to provide the best quality care.
Your support in action:
- Sponsor an health care worker’s training: $100 provides a 6-week training for 1 worker, equipping them to serve 50+ families annually.
